Michael Schur was inspired to create A Man On the Inside after watching the Chilean documentary The Mole Agent
Scenario
Charles, a retiree, gets a new chance at life when he answers an ad for a private investigator and becomes a mole in an undercover investigation at a nursing home. He says: The documentary The Mole Agent is powerful because it makes people feel something remarkably similar regardless of age, ethnicity or gender, and I would describe that feeling in a very simplistic way as, “I have to call my mom.” In our show, we tried to do something similar with the tone: Basically, does our show contribute to that feeling of wanting to call our moms?
I loved it!
The remake of El agente topo (2020). I was expecting a comedy full of clichés about someone who goes undercover, his crazy antics and so on.
Instead, we get a show about a man who not only helped others, but also helped himself get over the loss of his wife
This great series wasn’t full of cheesy laughs and corny lines, at some points I was really moved by the way the topics were handled – like the resident with memory problems. However, it wasn’t like everything was serious that made you feel depressed or bored watching the episodes, it made the series worth watching because you wanted to see how it would develop – who stole etc.
The cast was great, the cinematography and locations were well done
I really hope they make another season and bring a great mix of laughs, emotions, writing, locations and cast, like they did in Charles’ other detective adventures, like they did in this one.
